Short Abstract:

Dr. Gentry is sometimes referred to by teachers as America’s “Guru of Spelling.”  He is the author of numerous books on spelling and Zaner-Bloser’s Spelling Connections, the nation’s best-selling spelling series.

 

Who needs spelling?

As it turns out, all students do. Cognitive psychology and brain science have revolutionized the importance of teaching spelling. This session shows the how direct, systematic, grade-by-grade teaching of spelling improves reading scores at all grade levels and it’s role for detecting and overcoming the nation’s number one learning disability, dyslexia.
